Know Your Equipment

A short introduction to the tools of our trade.

Baby Par

These L.E.D. bulbs work most satisfactory when used to replace incandescent bulbs in track lights, downlights, or spot lights. A good energy savings choice for replacing 75-100 watt incandescent lamps.
Deliver directional spotlighting without the flicker, noise or heat you can get with other conventional light sources True professionally designed LED Light (made with heavy gauge all-metal casing), not plastic like the cheap LED lights on the marketplace today. This is important - most LED's in the market today use plastic casings that will only last a few months before degrading, the H32 has an all metal design that will give you years of reliable use.

Beam Spot

A beam projector is a lensless instrument with very little beam spread. It uses two reflectors. The primary reflector is a parabolic reflector and the secondary reflector is a spherical reflector. The parabolic reflector directs the light into nearly parallel beams, and the spherical reflector is placed in front of the lamp to reflect light from the lamp back to the parabolic reflector, which reduces spill. The result is an intense shaft of light that cannot be easily controlled or modified. The beam projector no longer is used to the extent that it once was, as newer fixtures and PAR lamps have created easier ways to produce the effect.

City Colour

The city colour is a high intensity flood light that provides blanked colour wash over large surfaces . Its ideal to light large buildings or areas externally . Its colour chanching capabalities and can be used mostly for outdoor purposes. The lights our where large and so our little to be used indoor locations.

Cyclorama

A cyclorama is a large curtain or wall, often concave, positioned at the back of the stage area. It was popularized in the German theater of the 19th century and continues in common usage today in theaters throughout the world. A "cyc" (U.S. theatrical abbreviation) can be made of unbleached canvas (larger versions) or muslin (smaller versions), filled scrim (popularized on Broadway in the 20th century), or seamless translucent plastic (often referred to as "Opera Plastic"). Traditionally it is hung at 0% fullness (flat). When possible, it is stretched on the sides and weighted on the bottom to create as flat and even a surface as possible. As seams tend to interrupt the desirable smooth surface of the cyclorama it is usually constructed from extra-wide material.

DMX System

The origin of the abbreviation of DMX is unknown. However it is often explained as Digital Multiplexed signal It is a protocol, in which a DMX controller communicates to DMX luminaires DMX is the language in which DMX controller talks to DMX luminaires.

Follow Spot

The follow spot also called a spotlight, track spot, lime ,is a lighting instrument that is moved during a performance by an operator or by DMX control to provide emphasis or extra illumination and usually to follow a specific performer when he or she is moving around the stage. Follow spots are commonly used in musical theater and opera to highlight the stars of a performance, but may be used in dramas well. They are also used in sports venues, as well as many other applications.

Halogen

U.S. Patent 2,883,571 was granted to Elmer Fridrich and Emmett Wiley for a tungsten halogen lamp - an improved type of incandescent lamp - in 1959. A better halogen light lamp was invented in 1960 by General Electric engineer Fredrick Moby. Moby was granted U.S. Patent 3,243,634 for his tungsten halogen A-lamp that could fit into a standard lightbulb socket. During the early 1970s, General Electric research engineers invented improved ways to manufacture tungsten halogen lamps.

HMI Lights

Although there are exceptions, most tungsten light designed specifically for photography produces light of a colour around 3200 - 3400 deg K, which is much warmer in colour (less blue) than flash. Because of this the colour needs to be corrected by using filters, either in the form of gels fitted to the lamps themselves or to the camera lens. However, if the tungsten lights are the ONLY light source (i.e. all lights produce the same colour of light and there is no daylight or overhead room lighting) then filters are not needed with digital cameras, where the white balance can be adjusted instead of using filters.

LED Par

LED has taken the LED Par can to a new level of brightness and professionalism with the introduction of its new LED Par cans - which includes the LED-64 and the LED-56. All models feature high output 10mmLED's for extra light output washes of colour that serve as stunning backgrounds for performances of all sorts and sizes. The units operate in several modes

Mirror Ball

A large revolving ball covered with small pieces of mirror glass so that it reflects light in changing patterns: used in discos andballrooms

Moving Wash

Intelligent lighting refers to stage lighting that has automated or mechanical abilities beyond those of traditional, stationary illumination. Although the most advanced intelligent lights can produce extraordinarily complicated effects, the intelligence lies with the programmer of the show rather than the instruments or the lighting operator. For this reason, intelligent lighting is also known as automated lighting, moving lights or moving heads.

Moving Head

Time and space are analogous in various ways. objects exist in both time and space; events can be separated by distances in both time and space; matter moves continuously through space and time. In recognition of the analogies, physicists lump the two together under the heading of "space-time." How far does this analogy go? Very far, according to J. J. C. Smart. Just as objects that are distant in space are real, objects that are distant in time are real. Just as there is nothing special about here (beyond the fact that it is the place where I am), there is nothing special about now (beyond the fact that it is the time when I am). Dean Zimmerman rejects these alleged analogies. The present is special; it is the only time whose events and objects are truly real.

PAR 64

The PAR64 (or Par Can) is one of the most common and most useful lighting fixtures used today, for stage, studio and entertainment lighting applications. The fixture is lightweight and simple in design and construction. It is also economical to manufacture and easy to maintain. The fixture uses one of several different incandescent PAR lamps to provide an efficient spotlighting package. Both 120 and 240 volt versions exist, making the PAR64 a truly universal luminaire available and used throughout the world.

Pin Spot

A Pin spot (pinspot) is a very, very narrow beam version of a par can (see above). The pin spot is usually used to illuminate a mirror ball (disco ball). Due to the very narrow beam, the pin spot diameter is seldom

Profile

When lit correctly and used against a dark background, a portrait in profile can be one of the most dynamic images. There are, however, a few rules to keep in mind to make sure that the portrait flatters the subject and does not emphasize bad features.

Rice Lights

The rice lights our mostly used in weddings ,parties ,raindrops &used in backdrop star effects.

Rope Lights

Led is the term used to describe "Light emitting diodes". Led rope lighting is the new way of the future of internal and external home lighting. Led rope lighting consists of micro tiny bulbs which unlike light much brighter is light than others. Therefore the light bulb is constructed out of heavy duty and high quality plastic which is highly durable and hard wearing also able to withstand the small amount of heat without melting at all.

Scanner

Victory II 250 is a professional scanner that combines top-level performance and great compactness. Thanks to its light weight and functionality, it can be easily installed in any position and any technical work can be carried out extremely rapidly. Victory II 250 has 16 colour combinations, two-tone beams and rainbow effect; strobe, frost filter and CTB, wheel with 7 interchangeable gobos (of which 4 are rotary); the 250W lamp, combined with a special reflector generates a luminous power of no less than 5,000 lux at 5 metres.

Smoke Machine

Superior Signal Smoke Machine That comes standard with a 10 meter wired remote control which makes operation easy. No more searching for controls in a smoke filled room. This hand held remote features a selection for manual, or self timed operation. Simply set dial to control flow rate, duration of smoke blasts, and interval between blasts. They continuously refill the area with smoke at a steady constant rate, therefore reducing the chances of over concentration and residues.
